Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) staff represented the International Cancer Control Partnership (ICCP) at the CanCon Policy conference in Rome. Due to the improvement in early detection and the dramatic change in the field of cancer therapy, survivorship is becoming more and more important. Given that, survivorship was one of the key topics addressed at the conference. The event focused on the fight against inequities in cancer care and the creation of a European model for the establishment of national survivorship care plans (SCPs). In this interview with Mr. Julien Tognetti, project officer of CanCon Work Package 8 Survivorship and rehabilitation from the French National Cancer Institute, discusses the importance of focus on survivorship, how quality can be measured and what is needed to implement survivorship as relevant part of the cancer continuum.
